These Community Content Terms (the Terms) govern your publication and distribution of community textures, skins, and related creative materials (Community Content) through the Hub for Minecraft mobile application and any related websites, services, or platforms operated by us (collectively, the Service). Hub for Minecraft is a companion application for Minecraft and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Mojang Studios, Microsoft Corporation, or any of their affiliates, except as may be expressly stated elsewhere.
By publishing, uploading, submitting, or otherwise making Community Content available through the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not publish Community Content.
By tapping accept, checking a confirmation box, publishing Community Content, or otherwise using any community publishing feature of the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms.
These Terms apply in addition to any general terms of use, privacy policy, and other policies that apply to the Service. If there is a conflict between these Terms and other policies solely with respect to Community Content publishing, these Terms control for that subject matter.
You represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. If you are accepting on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and you means that organization.
You must have a valid account on the Service (or such other authentication method as we may require) to publish Community Content.
You must be at least the minimum age required by applicable law in your jurisdiction to use the Service and to grant the licenses described in these Terms. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may publish Community Content only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
You are responsible for all activity under your account, including Community Content published through it. You must keep your account credentials secure and notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.
We may require identity verification, age verification, or additional information before allowing you to publish, monetize, or receive rewards related to Community Content. Failure to provide accurate information may result in denial or removal of publishing privileges.
Subject to these Terms, you may publish Community Content that consists of original or properly licensed textures, skins, and related creative materials intended for use with Minecraft-style character or world customization within the Service.
Community Content may include texture images, skin files, preview images, titles, descriptions, tags, and other metadata you submit in connection with a publication.
You may publish only Community Content that complies with these Terms, applicable law, and any technical or format requirements we publish from time to time (including file size, resolution, format, and content guidelines).
We may limit categories, formats, or types of Community Content that may be published. Availability of publishing features may vary by region, device, account status, or product version.
As between you and Hub for Minecraft, you retain ownership of the intellectual property rights in Community Content that you create and publish, subject to the licenses you grant under these Terms and any rights of third parties.
Publishing Community Content does not transfer ownership of your underlying intellectual property to us, except for the licenses expressly granted herein.
You acknowledge that Minecraft, related marks, and game assets are owned by their respective rights holders. These Terms do not grant you any rights in Mojang, Microsoft, or third-party intellectual property, and do not authorize you to use such property beyond what is permitted by applicable law and the rights holders' own terms.
Feedback, suggestions, or ideas you provide about the Service (other than your Community Content itself) may be used by us without obligation or compensation to you.
By publishing Community Content, you grant Hub for Minecraft and its affiliates, successors, and service providers a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, fully paid-up, transferable, sublicensable, irrevocable (for the duration of protection of the applicable rights, or for so long as the Community Content remains on the Service and for a reasonable period thereafter for archival, legal, and operational purposes) license to:
(a) host, store, cache, reproduce, and back up the Community Content;
(b) display, perform, transmit, make available, and distribute the Community Content through the Service and related channels;
(c) promote, market, feature, and advertise the Community Content and the Service, including in app stores, social media, websites, newsletters, and promotional materials;
(d) create and use previews, thumbnails, screenshots, cropped versions, resized versions, and other derivative presentations reasonably needed to operate, display, and promote the Community Content and the Service;
(e) monetize the Community Content and the Service in connection with the Community Content, including by displaying advertisements, offering in-app currency or coin unlocks, subscriptions, featured placements, and other commercial arrangements;
(f) use your publisher name, display name, username, and any attribution information you provide in connection with the Community Content for the purposes above; and
(g) permit our service providers and partners to exercise the foregoing rights solely to operate, improve, and promote the Service.
The license is granted without any obligation to pay royalties or other compensation, except as may be expressly provided under a separate written program that we offer and that you accept.
You waive, to the maximum extent permitted by law, any moral rights or similar rights that would prevent us from exercising the licenses granted in this section in the ordinary operation of the Service, provided that we will not present your Community Content as created by someone other than you where attribution is reasonably practicable.
By publishing Community Content, you grant each user of the Service a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable (as between users, subject to our rights and these Terms) license to access, view, download (where the Service permits), and use the Community Content solely for personal, non-commercial use within the Service and for personal use with Minecraft or compatible experiences as facilitated by the Service.
Where the Service offers coin unlocks, in-app currency, or similar access mechanisms, users may unlock and use Community Content in accordance with the Service's rules. Such unlocks do not transfer ownership of the Community Content to the user and do not authorize commercial exploitation outside the Service.
Users may not redistribute, sell, sublicense, or commercially exploit Community Content outside the Service unless you have separately authorized them in writing or through a license you clearly attach, and even then only to the extent such authorization does not conflict with the licenses granted to Hub for Minecraft under these Terms.
Nothing in this section limits the licenses you grant to Hub for Minecraft under Section 5.
You represent and warrant that:
(a) you are the sole author and owner of the Community Content, or you have obtained all rights, licenses, consents, and permissions necessary to publish it and to grant the licenses in these Terms;
(b) the Community Content, and our and users' exercise of rights under these Terms, will not infringe, misappropriate, or violate any third-party intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
(c) the Community Content complies with these Terms, applicable law, and any platform rules of app stores through which the Service is distributed;
(d) all information you provide in connection with publication (including titles, descriptions, tags, and attribution) is accurate and not misleading; and
(e) you will not use the Service to engage in fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful activity.
You are solely responsible for Community Content you publish and for any claims, losses, or disputes arising from it.
You must publish only original work that you created, or work for which you hold all necessary rights.
You must not plagiarize, copy, reupload, or republish Community Content or other materials created by someone else without authorization. This includes, without limitation:
(a) reuploading skins, textures, or packs obtained from other creators, websites, marketplaces, or apps;
(b) minor modifications of another person's work presented as your own;
(c) use of copyrighted characters, logos, trademarks, brand assets, or other protected material without permission or a valid legal basis;
(d) use of assets from other games, media, or commercial products without authorization; and
(e) uploading content generated or derived from third-party material in a manner that infringes rights or violates the source's license terms.
If you include third-party material, you must have a valid license that permits the uses and sublicenses described in these Terms, and you must comply with all attribution and other license conditions.
We may remove content that appears to be copied, reuploaded, or otherwise unauthorized, with or without notice, and may take account measures as described in these Terms.
You must not publish Community Content, titles, descriptions, tags, images, or related materials that:
(a) are illegal under applicable law, or promote, facilitate, or instruct illegal activity;
(b) are pornographic, sexually explicit, obscene, or otherwise not safe for work (NSFW), including sexualized depictions of characters or body parts;
(c) exploit, sexualize, or endanger minors, or depict minors in any sexual, suggestive, or abusive context (zero tolerance);
(d) promote or incite hatred, violence, discrimination, or harassment based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or other protected characteristic;
(e) are excessively violent, gory, or intended to shock or disturb in a manner inappropriate for a general audience companion app;
(f) constitute spam, scams, phishing, misleading clickbait, or repetitive low-quality uploads intended to manipulate rankings or rewards;
(g) contain malware, viruses, trojans, corrupted files, or any code or payload designed to harm devices, accounts, or data;
(h) impersonate another person, creator, brand, staff member, or entity, or falsely suggest endorsement by Hub for Minecraft, Mojang, Microsoft, or any third party;
(i) infringe copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, publicity rights, or other intellectual property or proprietary rights;
(j) disclose personal data of others without consent, or otherwise violate privacy rights;
(k) promote self-harm, suicide, terrorism, extremism, or criminal organizations;
(l) include unsolicited advertising, pyramid schemes, or deceptive commercial practices unrelated to legitimate Community Content publication; or
(m) otherwise violate these Terms, our policies, or applicable law, or that we reasonably determine is harmful to users, the Service, or third parties.
We may update prohibited content standards and apply them to existing Community Content.
Titles, descriptions, tags, previews, and other metadata are part of your Community Content and must comply with these Terms.
You must not use titles or descriptions that are misleading, deceptive, or designed to impersonate popular creators or official content.
You must not stuff keywords, use excessive symbols, or include contact information, external payment links, or promotional spam in titles or descriptions unless expressly permitted by us.
You must not use trademarks or brand names in a manner that is likely to confuse users about the source or affiliation of the Community Content.
We may edit, reject, or remove titles, descriptions, tags, or previews that violate these Terms or that we determine are inappropriate for the Service.
The Service may, from time to time, offer features related to visibility, promotion, in-app currency, coin unlocks, creator rewards, or other benefits in connection with Community Content.
You acknowledge and agree that:
(a) there are no guaranteed earnings, views, unlocks, rankings, or rewards of any kind;
(b) any monetization, reward, or incentive program may be changed, suspended, or discontinued at any time, with or without notice, to the maximum extent permitted by law;
(c) unless we expressly offer a separate written program for real-money payments or withdrawals that you accept, Community Content publication does not entitle you to real money, cash, or cash-equivalent compensation;
(d) in-app currency, coins, points, or similar units have no cash value except as expressly stated in a separate program, are not transferable outside the Service, and may expire or be adjusted according to Service rules;
(e) featured placement, recommendations, and ranking algorithms are determined at our discretion and may consider quality, compliance, engagement, and other factors; and
(f) taxes, if any, related to rewards you receive are your responsibility.
Abuse of monetization or reward systems, including fake engagement, duplicate uploads, or manipulation, may result in forfeiture of benefits and account measures.
We may review Community Content using automated systems, human moderators, user reports, or a combination of methods. Review does not mean approval, and publication does not mean the Community Content complies with these Terms.
WE MAY REMOVE, DISABLE, UNLIST, DEMOTE, RESTRICT, OR REFUSE TO PUBLISH ANY COMMUNITY CONTENT AT ANY TIME, WITH OR WITHOUT NOTICE, AND WITH OR WITHOUT EXPLAINING REASONS, FOR ANY REASON OR NO REASON, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
You are not entitled to compensation, reinstatement, damages, or any other remedy solely because Community Content is removed, restricted, or not published.
We may preserve copies of removed Community Content as needed for legal, security, archival, or operational purposes.
If we remove Community Content for alleged infringement or policy violation, we may notify you when we consider it appropriate, but we are not obligated to do so.
Users and rights holders may report Community Content that they believe violates these Terms, applicable law, or third-party rights.
If you believe Community Content infringes your intellectual property rights, you may submit a complaint through the reporting channels we make available in the Service or as otherwise published by us. Your complaint should include sufficient information for us to identify the content and evaluate the claim.
We may act on reports at our discretion, including by removing content, requesting additional information, or taking no action. We are not obligated to resolve disputes between users or between users and third parties.
If your Community Content is removed following a report and you believe the removal was in error, you may contact us through available support channels. We may, but are not required to, restore content.
Repeated or abusive reports may themselves result in account measures.
The Service is provided as a platform for Community Content at our discretion. We have no obligation to host, display, distribute, promote, or continue to make available any Community Content.
We may change, limit, or discontinue publishing features, storage, categories, or availability of Community Content at any time.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, permanent storage, or any particular level of visibility for Community Content.
You are responsible for maintaining your own backups of Community Content. We are not liable for loss of Community Content files, metadata, statistics, or related data.
If you violate these Terms or applicable law, or if we reasonably believe your account or Community Content poses risk to users, the Service, or third parties, we may take measures including, without limitation:
(a) warning you;
(b) removing or restricting Community Content;
(c) limiting or suspending publishing privileges;
(d) suspending or terminating your account;
(e) forfeiting rewards, coins, or other benefits; and
(f) cooperating with law enforcement or rights holders where appropriate.
We may apply account measures with or without prior notice, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Attempts to evade enforcement (including by creating new accounts after termination) are prohibited and may result in further action.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Hub for Minecraft, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, partners, and licensors from and against any claims, demands, actions, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:
(a) Community Content you publish;
(b) your breach of these Terms or of your representations and warranties;
(c) your infringement or violation of any third-party rights; or
(d) your use of the Service in connection with Community Content publishing.
We reserve the right to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification, at your expense, and you agree to cooperate with our defense of such claims.
THE SERVICE AND ALL COMMUNITY CONTENT PUBLISHING FEATURES ARE PROVIDED ON AN AS IS AND AS AVAILABLE BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT COMMUNITY CONTENT WILL BE PROTECTED FROM LOSS, MISUSE, OR UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS BY THIRD PARTIES.
YOU PUBLISH AND USE COMMUNITY CONTENT AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers. In such jurisdictions, the disclaimers apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HUB FOR MINECRAFT AND ITS AFFILIATES, AND THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS, WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR COMMUNITY CONTENT, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR COMMUNITY CONTENT PUBLISHING, WHETHER BASED IN CONTRACT, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY, OR ANY OTHER THEORY, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR COMMUNITY CONTENT PUBLISHING WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO US SPECIFICALLY FOR COMMUNITY CONTENT PUBLISHING FEATURES IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY US DOLLARS (USD 50) OR THE EQUIVALENT IN LOCAL CURRENCY.
THE FOREGOING LIMITATIONS APPLY EVEN IF ANY REMEDY FAILS OF ITS ESSENTIAL PURPOSE.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where such limitation is prohibited.
We may modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will provide notice by updating the Last updated date above and, where appropriate, by in-app notice or other reasonable means.
Your continued publication of Community Content or continued use of publishing features after the updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the changes.
If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop publishing Community Content and may remove your existing Community Content using in-app Personal library tools or through available support channels, subject to licenses already granted and our operational needs.
We may also update related policies, guidelines, and technical requirements from time to time.
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Hub for Minecraft regarding Community Content publishing and supersede prior agreements on that subject matter.
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect, and the unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.
Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
These Terms do not create any partnership, joint venture, employment, or agency relationship between you and Hub for Minecraft.
Notices to you may be provided through the Service, to the contact information associated with your account, or by other reasonable means.
Headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.
These Terms are written in English. If we provide a translation, the English version controls in case of conflict, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
Any dispute arising out of these Terms will be governed by the laws applicable to the operator of the Service, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence provide otherwise.
The Service may provide a Personal library or similar view that lists Community Content you have uploaded.
You may use in-app tools to: (a) cancel a pending submission before moderation completes; (b) unpublish active Community Content from the public catalog; and (c) remove rejected or hidden items from your Personal library.
Unpublishing or removing Community Content from the catalog does not automatically revoke access for users who unlocked it, applied it to a skin, or saved it in skin history before the change, unless we state otherwise or applicable law requires otherwise. Users who received a license under Section 6 may continue personal use within the Service as implemented (including restoring skins from history), subject to these Terms.
We do not delete Community Content files from storage solely because you unpublish, so previously saved skins and history entries may continue to reference hosted files for a reasonable period. We may deny withdrawal, remove files, or restrict access when required by law, rights-holder complaints, or abuse prevention.
For disputes or requests we cannot process through in-app tools, contact us through available support channels.
By publishing Community Content on Hub for Minecraft, you confirm that you have read and understood these Community Content Terms, that you have the rights needed to publish your content, and that you agree to be bound by these Terms in full.
